Exercise Stress Test

Exercise Stress Test

This test evaluates how your heart performs under physical stress. During the test, you will walk on a treadmill while your heart rate, ECG, and blood pressure are monitored.

It helps detect issues like blocked arteries or abnormal heart rhythms that may not appear when you are at rest.

The test typically lasts an hour, including preparation and recovery time. This test is performed at most CVC Cardiovascular practices.

What to Bring:

  • A list of current medications if we do not already have them on file.
  • Any questions you may have—feel free to write them down.

Patient Preparation for an Exercise Stress Test

To ensure accurate results and a safe experience, please follow these preparation guidelines:

  • Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing suitable for exercise, such as activewear. Avoid dresses, jeans, or restrictive clothing.
  • Footwear: Wear supportive, non-slip shoes like runners or walking shoes. Avoid sandals, thongs, or high heels.
  • Food & Drink: Do not eat, smoke, or consume alcohol for at least 3 hours before your test. A light meal earlier in the day is fine.
  • Caffeine: Avoid all caffeine (including tea, coffee, cola, energy drinks, and chocolate) for 24 hours before the test.
  • Medications: Continue taking your medications unless your doctor advises otherwise. If you are unsure, please check with your referring doctor.
  • Hydration: You may drink water as needed before the test.
