24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

This test involves wearing a small, portable device that automatically measures your blood pressure at regular intervals—typically every 20 to 30 minutes—over a 24-hour period (less frequent overnight). It provides a more accurate and comprehensive picture of your blood pressure throughout your daily activities and sleep.

Appointments:

You will need to attend two appointments: one for device fitting (approx. 15 minutes) and one for device removal (approx. 10–15 minutes) the following day.

After the Test:

Your results will be analysed and sent to your referring doctor and contacted should a further appointment be necessary.

Patient Preparation:

  • Shower Before Your Appointment: You will not be able to shower, bathe, or swim while wearing the monitor. Please shower beforehand.
  • Clothing: Wear a two-piece outfit with loose-fitting sleeves to allow easy placement of the cuff and comfortable wear throughout the day.
  • Skin Care: Avoid applying lotions, oils, or powders to your arms or chest on the day of the test, as these can interfere with cuff placement and readings.
  • Medications: Continue taking your usual medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.
During the Test:
  • Keep your arm still and relaxed when the cuff inflates.
  • Avoid heavy physical activity or vigorous exercise during the monitoring period.
  • Do not tamper with or remove the monitor unless instructed.
