Patient Information

Important Information About Your CVC Cardiovascular Clinics Appointment

Once CVC has received your referral and it has been triaged by the cardiologist, appointments are generally scheduled on a next available basis. When you make an appointment, the CVC admin team will send you a Patient Questionnaire to complete prior to your arrival. This ensures we have all the current information required for you to see the cardiologist.

If you become unwell and urgently need to seek medical attention, please call 000 or arrange for an urgent consultation with your General Practitioner. We endeavour to accommodate urgent appointments; however, CVC is not an emergency centre.

Preparing for Your Appointment

To help us provide the best possible care, please ensure the following before attending your appointment at CVC Cardiovascular Clinics:

  • Referral: Make sure you have a current referral from your GP or specialist.
  • Patient Questionnaire: Complete the CVC Patient Questionnaire online once it has been sent to you.
  • Medicare and Health Fund Details: Bring your Medicare card and private health insurance information.
  • Medications: Bring a full list of your current medications, and if possible, the medication boxes or packaging.
  • Test Results: Bring any recent cardiac test results (e.g. ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests).
  • Appointment Confirmation: You will receive a text message reminder prior to your appointment. Please respond YES to confirm your attendance, otherwise your appointment time may be offered to another patient.

Billing Information for Patients of CVC Cardiovascular Clinics

At CVC Cardiovascular Clinics, we are committed to providing clear and helpful information about any fees associated with your care. Below is an overview of how fees are structured for both outpatient (practice-based) and inpatient (hospital-based) services.

Outpatient Fees (seen in the practice)

For consultations and cardiac tests conducted at our clinic locations, our reception team will inform you of the applicable fee and any possible Medicare rebate at the time of booking. As these services are provided outside of a hospital setting, they are not covered by private health insurance.

Full payments for all outpatient fees are payable on the day of the appointment and Medicare rebates can be processed at the time of full payment and deposited directly into your nominated bank account, provided it is registered with Medicare.

CVC Cardiovascular Clinics are not a bulk billing practice.

Important Note About Repeat Tests

The Australian Government places restrictions on Medicare rebates for certain tests if they are repeated within a specific timeframe—typically within 12 or 24 months depending on the test. This means that if you have had the same test recently, you may not be eligible for a full rebate or any rebate at all.

If you’re unsure whether a test will be covered, we recommend discussing this with your cardiologist and contacting Medicare directly for clarification.

Inpatient Fees (seen in Hospital)

If you require a cardiac procedure and hospital admission, please be aware that hospital, pathology, and pharmacy fees may apply. These fees are separate from the cardiologist’s fees. For patients with full Cardiac cover through private health insurance, most inpatient procedures typically involve no out-of-pocket costs. However, fees can vary between doctors, and some complex procedures may incur additional charges—commonly referred to as co-payments, gap payments or out of pocket fees.

It’s important to check your level of cover with your health fund prior to your procedure. The cardiologist will provide the administrative team with the relevant item numbers you’ll need when speaking with your health fund to confirm your coverage.

We accept EFTPOS, credit card, cash, and cheque. Medicare rebates can be processed at the time of payment. We kindly ask that all accounts be settled in full on the day of your consultation.

  • Medicare Rebates at CVC:
At CVC Cardiovascular Clinics, Medicare rebates can be processed at the time of payment. If your bank account is registered with Medicare, the rebate is usually deposited directly into your account.
  • For fully insured Inpatients the invoices will be sent directly to your health fund and Medicare. Any co-payments will be should be paid directly to CVC prior to your admission.

Important Note About Repeat Tests

The Australian Government places restrictions on Medicare rebates for certain tests if they are repeated within a specific timeframe—typically within 12 or 24 months. This means that if you have had the same test recently, you may not be eligible for a full rebate or any rebate at all.

If you’re unsure whether a test will be covered, we recommend discussing this with your referring doctor or contacting Medicare directly for clarification.
